Birmingham, AL – This cute K-9 couple, Frankie G & Buttercup are running for Do Dah Day Parade King & Queen to raise money for the Greater Birmingham Humane Society.
This Saturday, May 16, 2015 is the annual Do Dah Day event at Rhodes Park in Birmingham with many festivities going on all day long.
Buttercup is a Greater Birmingham Humane Society rescue dog and a patron of Just Happy Hounds Doggie Daycare. She is raising money for other rescue dogs. Buttercup’s story is that her friends at the Greater Birmingham Humane Society named her when she was brought to them on Valentine’s Day, 2014 along with her sister (Patches) and her puppies. They were all adopted, but Buttercup liked her home at the Humane Society, so she was patient. The staff was so kind to her, and she loved taking naps there but knew she must have a permanent human to love and make happy. Well, after a long month, her new Mom came to see her. She had seen Buttercup’s picture on Facebook. They spent just a little while together in a room and this K-9 knew she was the one. Buttercup pressed her head on her legs, her new prospective Mom gave her a cookie, and they fell in love. Buttercup’s year has been full of love and things rescue dogs dream of – dressing up for Halloween, trying out for the Mutt Cracker Ballet GBHS fund raiser, having a birthday on Valentine’s Day. She’s had a great year since being adopted so she want to make sure other dogs and cats waiting to be adopted have the same chance at the life she have now. That’s why Buttercup is running for Do Dah Day Queen. Buttercup wants to make a difference!
If you’d say that you wanted to meet a dog with a sweet, gentle demeanor who is a lover of all things Tinkerbell, you’d be talking about Frankie G! Frankie G is a 117-pound Pit Bull who has previously lived in Chattanooga and Atlanta, but now resides in Homewood. He is 4 years old and was adopted from a Chattanooga, Tennessee Pit Bull rescue as a puppy. Sweet Frankie G loves to swim and is serious about tennis balls! He’s a lover of toys including baby dolls and stuffed animals (which he doesn’t tear through like other dogs), but he shies away from squirrels and cats. When he’s not at home, Frankie G thoroughly enjoys his time at Just Happy Hounds daycare, where he is now in training to be a Hand In Paw therapy dog. Frankie G. can be seen around town sporting his Tinkerbell collar because he has a thing for Tinkerbell–she looks like his mom! Frankie G is so happy with his life since his rescue so he wants to give back by running for Do Dah Day King this year to raise money to help other dogs have the same opportunity to experience a wonderful new life!
